Horizon
In honour of the 40th anniversary of the European Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation, we have put together a selection of successful projects that Dutch universities have participated in. All this research would not have been possible without Horizon and its predecessor programmes. This selection represents only a small part of the many projects realised thanks to European funding. Each project symbolises progress and shows how groundbreaking research and innovation contribute to a better future. We want to thank the Commission for retaining and strengthening this instrument, even in the sharp recession of last decade, and we hope the Commission will continue to do so in times to come.
On 18 December, UNL, in collaboration with Neth-ER, TNO, and KNAW, organised the event ‘Horizon Europe – an Exploration of the Future Framework Programme’ in Brussels. The event celebrated the 40th anniversary of the successful Horizon programme and aimed to promote its continuation in the future. To this end, UNL compiled a brochure highlighting several projects from Dutch universities that have been made possible with the support of Horizon Europe and previous framework programmes. The brochure was presented to Marc Lemaitre, EU Director General for Research and Innovation, and Feite Hofman, Director General of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, by Robert-Jan Smits, President of Eindhoven University of Technology and EU-Lead of UNL.
